Committee Overview
DPSIMUN 2026 introduces BRICS Plus, the bloc rewriting the rules of global power! With trade, currency, and influence on the line, delegates will push for a bigger seat at the table and a louder say in how the world runs.
BRICS+ represents an expanded bloc of major emerging market economies aiming to promote multipolarity, economic cooperation, and systemic reform of global financial structures.
In line with "Engineering Stability in an Age of Volatility," BRICS+ serves as a critical forum for member states to design mechanisms that enhance economic resilience and reduce external dependencies.
Topic: Increasing local currency usage and reducing reliance on the US Dollar
- Creation of a BRICS Common Currency or a BRICS Currency Unit (basket currency) — feasibility and challenges
- Reducing vulnerability to US sanctions through de-dollarization
- Balancing de-dollarization with maintaining economic stability and investor confidence
MEET THE CHAIRS

"Hello everyone! My name is Yesung, and I am so excited and honored to serve as your Chair for the BRICS+ Committee at DPSIMUN! This is my first time chairing a committee, although I’ve participated in five different MUN conferences before so I know exactly how it feels when the Chair starts talking and you’re just hoping they don’t notice you haven’t finished reading the background guide yet. I’m really excited to be on this side of the table and to guide all of you through what I hope will be an amazing experience. My biggest advice to you is to prepare well — take time to really understand the topics, especially the importance of local currency usage and reducing reliance on the US Dollar. It is not the most thrilling topic at first glance, but once you read more, it gets surprisingly interesting. The success of this committee will depend on your active participation, creativity, cooperation, and respect for one another. I genuinely think this can be one of the more interesting committees at the conference if we all put a bit of effort in. We’ll be dealing with the same kinds of questions actual BRICS diplomats argue about, just with slightly less pressure and better snacks (hopefully). "Hello Everybody! My name is Sumaaho and I can’t wait to be your chair in the BRICS+ Committee at DPSIMUN ‘26! I’ve participated in 8 MUNs over 5 years but this will be the first time I chair an external conference. During my time in MUN I've learned the importance of chairs in creating a fun and memorable experience and I hope to make this conference incredible for all of you. I’m extremely excited to be your chair and I can’t wait to meet and guide you all through the conference! Before the conference, I want you all to keep in mind that if you don’t try you definitely won’t succeed. This means that each and every one of you should do your very best to prepare, participate, and cooperate in this conference in order for us to have fruitful sessions. Fully understanding the topics at hand and the aim of the BRICS+ countries is crucial for lively debate and creating a memorable conference. Whether this conference is your 1st or 23rd, I truly believe that you will all be able to thrive and engage in debate.
